Yellow Glacier Lily in Crested Butte Co.
I went to Crested Butte mid-spring to find this one flower. I was not disappointed, I was able to get enough good photos of the Yellow Glacier Lily to put it into its own gallery. I hope you enjoy the photos.
Description:
Pure golden-yellow flowers with 6 petals that bend sharply backwards to the back. The flower extends from a single branch less stem, with basal non-mottled leaves. Very similar to the Avalanche Lily -- several sources group the two species together.
Like many lilies, the Glacier Lily grows from corms that were frequently used as food for Native Americans.
